                                   Characteristics of the World Congress


1.  Strictly non-commercial, not-for-profit (staffed by CID members)

2.  Largest number of conferees: 702 in 2006

5.  Organized by a high-level national institution specialized in dance.

6.  Maximum publicity: announced 1 year earlier, covered by dozens of dance magazines and

newsletters, emailed to over 150,000 dance professionals in 200 countries.

7.  Not to be confused with festivals, conferences, workshops, symposiums, trade fairs etc.,

while containing their most important features

8.  Official recognition: endorsed by ministries and municipalities

9.  Scientific Committee composed of university professors from 7 countries

10.  Full texts submitted for approval - no abstracts.

11.  Deadline for proposals is one month before the Congress.

12.  No keynote speakers, no invited guests, no visitors: only registered members,

that is select professionals.

13.  Time allowed is equal to all conferees.

14.  Full proceedings, including all texts, videos, music, pictures etc. issued as a DVD.

15.  Proceedings DVD circulating world-wide inthousands of copies, free of charge, free of

rights.

16.  All forms of dance are represented: ballet, modern, folk, ballroom, contemporary,

traditional, classical etc.

17.  All approaches: teaching, performing, research, therapy, criticism, recreation,

management, journalism etc.

18.  Including: performances, classes, research reports, lecture-demonstrations,

exhibitions/sales, video projections, visits etc.

19.  A large dancer's bag with gifts given to each conferee, including:

certificate for wall framing, program, posters, badges, stickers for school entrance and for car

windshield, a book, tourist information, handouts etc.

20.  Venue is a prestigious building in the center of the city.




No other meeting in the world has more than 3 of the above 20 features.
